Overview

This exam qualifies the German language level C2 according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and is accompanied by an official certificate issued by the internationally recognised Goethe Institute.

The exam is modularly structured and consists of the following parts: listening (approx. 35 minutes), reading (80 minutes), writing (80 minutes) and speaking (15 minutes) and is held on two afternoons.

With language cometences on the C2 level you can:

understand practically everything you read or hear in German.
Summarize information from different written and oral sources, giving reasons and explanations in a coherent presentation.
express yourself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, and in more complex situations make finer shades of meaning clear.

Target group

This exam is suitable for all adult foreign language learners who have German language skills at level C2 and would like to have these confirmed with an internationally valid certificate. Young people from the age of 16 are welcome!

If you would like to practice before the Goethe exam, you can also attend an exam training course instead of a whole course. There you will be intensively prepared for all parts of the exam.

Exam information

Your personal exam schedule will be sent to you by mail approximately 3 weeks before the exam.
Please bring an identity card with you on the day of the exam.
The examination fee must be paid at least 10 days before the examination date.
In case of emergency, it is possible to withdraw from an exam or to postpone the registration. Cancellations up to 2 weeks before the exam are free of charge. After that the exam fee has to be paid.
You will receive the results by mail approximately 3 weeks after the exam.
