Overview

This exam qualifies the German language level B2 according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and is accompanied by an official certificate issued by the internationally recognised Goethe Institute.

The examination is modularly structured, includes the parts listening (approx. 40 minutes), reading (65 minutes), writing (75 minutes) and the part speaking (15 minutes, pair examination) and is held on two afternoons. Examinations are offered several times a year.

With language cometences on the B2 level you can:

understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics and, in your own field of specialisation, also understand technical discussions.
communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is possible without much effort on either side.
express yourself clearly and in detail on a wide range of topics, explain a point of view on a current issue and state the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Target group

This examination is suitable for all adult foreign language learners who have German language skills at level B2 and would like to have these confirmed with an internationally valid certificate. Young people from the age of 14 are welcome!

If you would like to practice before the Goethe exam, you can also attend an exam training course instead of a whole course. There you will be intensively prepared for all parts of the exam.

Exam information

Your personal exam schedule will be sent to you by mail approximately 3 weeks before the exam.
Please bring an identity card with you on the day of the exam.
The examination fee must be paid at least 10 days before the examination date.
In case of emergency, it is possible to withdraw from an exam or to postpone the registration. Cancellations up to 2 weeks before the exam are free of charge. After that the exam fee has to be paid.
You will receive the results by mail approximately 3 weeks after the exam.
